Job description

We are looking for a caring, proactive, and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join a well-regarded primary school in Chelmsford. This is a full-time role, starting immediately, where you’ll work with pupils who need extra support with their learning, confidence, and behaviour.

The role is varied, rewarding, and offers the chance to make a real difference to children’s lives—whether that’s helping them manage emotions, encouraging positive choices, or supporting their academic progress in class.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils who need additional guidance.

  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

  • Support access to learning by working alongside teachers in class.

  • Build trusting relationships with pupils to develop confidence and resilience.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and pastoral teams to ensure pupils’ needs are met.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children in schools, youth work, or similar settings.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • The ability to remain calm, patient, and positive in challenging situations.

  • A flexible and proactive approach to supporting different needs.

  • A genuine passion for helping children reach their potential.
