Job description
We are looking for a caring, proactive, and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join a well-regarded primary school in Chelmsford. This is a full-time role, starting immediately, where you’ll work with pupils who need extra support with their learning, confidence, and behaviour.
The role is varied, rewarding, and offers the chance to make a real difference to children’s lives—whether that’s helping them manage emotions, encouraging positive choices, or supporting their academic progress in class.
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils who need additional guidance.

Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

Support access to learning by working alongside teachers in class.

Build trusting relationships with pupils to develop confidence and resilience.

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and pastoral teams to ensure pupils’ needs are met.

Experience working with children in schools, youth work, or similar settings.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

The ability to remain calm, patient, and positive in challenging situations.

A flexible and proactive approach to supporting different needs.
