Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £86 - £100 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Part-time / Full-time
GSL Education are proud to be working with a compassionate and inclusive school in Sheffield to recruit a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant. This role is ideal for individuals who are calm, empathetic, and resilient, and who are passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities of SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA):
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Implement strategies to help students regulate emotions and stay engaged
- Build strong, trusting relationships and serve as a positive role model
- Support inclusive classroom practices and tailor learning materials
- Monitor and report on student progress and emotional wellbeing
Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA):
- Experience supporting children/young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or SEND
- Ability to de-escalate challenging situations and remain calm under pressure
- Understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed approaches
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA Certificate or Psychology degree preferred)
