Teacher of English – mainstream secondary – Fareham, Hampshire
Start Date: Immediate / January 2026 | Contract Type: Full-Time
Salary: £30,000 – £50,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)

Are you an enthusiastic English specialist with a drive to help students achieve their full potential?

GSL Education are looking for a committed Teacher of English to join a thriving mainstream secondary school in Fareham. This is a full-time position, available for an immediate start or from January 2026.

As a Teacher of English, you will deliver engaging and inspiring lessons across the Key Stages, nurturing students’ skills in reading, writing, and critical analysis. This role is ideal for experienced educators as well as Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are eager to begin their teaching journey.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Teach English Language and Literature across the Key Stages
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality and creative lessons
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Support pupils in developing strong literacy and communication skills
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance departmental outcomes
  • Engage in school activities and professional development opportunities

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), ECTs, or recognised overseas teaching qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of English Language and Literature curriculum
  • Ability to inspire and motivate secondary school students
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • Organised, proactive, and dedicated to pupil achievement
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the update service, or willingness to apply via GSL Education
