Role: SEMH Learning Support Assistant
Location: Sudbury
Pay Rate: £90 – £110 per day
Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract: Full-time

GSL Education is currently recruiting SEMH Learning Support Assistants to provide dedicated support to pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs at a school in Sudbury. Main Purpose of the SEMH Learning Support Assistant Role

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Help students regulate emotions and behaviour to access learning effectively
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery, ensuring pupils remain engaged and included
  • Work alongside pastoral and SEN teams to implement personalised support plans
  • Promote resilience, independence, and confidence in pupils

Ideal Candidate Skills & Qualities

  • Previous experience working as a SEMH Learning Support Assistant or in a similar school or youth work setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Calm, resilient, and empathetic approach to supporting challenging behaviour
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through GSL Education)

This SEMH Learning Support Assistant role in Sudbury requires someone who can act as a positive role model, helping students navigate both learning and personal development in a safe and supportive environment.

Must have own vehicle and a valid driving licence
