Job Title: SEMH Behaviour Mentor
Location: Doncaster (DN4)
Pay Rate: £100 – £110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Are you a confident and empathetic SEMH Behaviour Mentor looking to support pupils in managing behaviour and developing essential life skills?

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive school in Doncaster (DN4). This role offers the opportunity to work with pupils facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges, helping them to engage positively with learning and school life.

Role Overview:

As an SEMH Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with teaching and support staff to implement strategies that improve behaviour, promote emotional wellbeing, and encourage personal development. You will provide 1:1 and small group support, mentoring pupils to make positive choices and achieve their potential.

As an SEMH Behaviour Mentor, you will:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs to manage behaviour and develop social skills.
  • Provide 1:1 mentoring and small group interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to implement behaviour plans.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress, providing feedback to staff.
  • Promote a safe, structured, and inclusive school environment.

Requirements for SEMH Behaviour Mentor:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs in a school setting.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and de-escalation skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with challenging behaviours.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
