Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £95 - £120 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Part-time / Full-time
GSL Education are working in partnership with a nurturing and inclusive school in Sheffield to recruit a committed SEMH Teaching Assistant. This opportunity is perfect for individuals with a calm, empathetic, and resilient approach who are passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities of SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA):
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Use strategies to help students regulate emotions and maintain focus
- Build strong, trusting relationships and act as a positive role model
- Support inclusive classroom practices and adapt learning materials
- Monitor and report on student progress and emotional wellbeing
Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA):
- Experience supporting children/young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or SEND
- Ability to de-escalate situations and remain calm under pressure
- Knowledge of safeguarding and trauma-informed approaches
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA Certificate or Psychology degree preferred)
