Teaching Assistant

Location: York, North Yorkshire

Salary: £85 - £110 per day

Start Date: ASAP

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our Client Secondary school in York, North Yorkshire, starting as soon as possible.

  • The school currently works with students who have a wide range of additional needs, such as dyslexia, physical disabilities, issues with speech, language, and communication, conditions on the autism spectrum, more general learning difficulties, individuals with rare syndromes, impairments to hearing and vision, and attention deficit disorders.

Teaching Assistants Responsibilities:

  • Work with students including those with special educational needs.
  • Work with the class teachers to support delivery lessons and manage classroom behaviour.
  • Support children with challenging behaviour, learning difficulties or emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Responsibilities will also include helping prepare learning materials, run classroom activities, with plenty of hands-on experience and supervision.
  • Promoting a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Provide additional support to the teacher in the classroom.

Teaching Assistants Requirements:

  • Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
  • Experience working with children or young people in SEMH, behavioural support, or complex needs settings.
  • Training in behavior management and de-escalation techniques is desirable.
  • Have excellent teamwork, classroom and communication skills.
  • Hold a Child only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
