Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £86 – £100+ per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Sheffield. As an SEMH TA, this is a fantastic opportunity to provide targeted support to pupils with SEMH needs, helping them engage with learning, develop coping strategies, and thrive in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs in 1:1 or small group settings.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons and structured activities tailored to SEMH pupils.
- Help pupils develop social skills, resilience, and confidence.
- Monitor and report on pupils’ progress and behaviour.
- Contribute to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs in school settings.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- A full CV covering the last 10 years, including explanations for any employment gaps.
