Job Title: Special Education Needs TA (SEN TA)
Location: Bovington
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full time/Permanent

GSL Education are pleased to be recruiting caring, committed, and enthusiastic individuals for the position of SEN Teaching Assistant at a supportive and inclusive school in Bovington. This is a rewarding role where you will help children with additional needs—such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, or mental health (SEMH) challenges—thrive both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities of the SEN TA:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of SEN.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher to deliver differentiated resources and follow individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, and emotional well-being.
  • Assist pupils with speech, language, communication, and sensory needs.
  • Track progress and share feedback with teaching staff and families.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and life skills in daily routines.
  • Contribute to a calm, secure, and inclusive classroom environment.

Ideal Candidate Requirements of the SEN TA:

  • A caring and adaptable approach, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and professional boundaries.
  • Ability to follow directions from senior staff while using initiative to engage pupils effectively.
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant or SEN-related qualification is desirable.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
