Do you have the resilience and empathy to support children who need a little extra guidance?
We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant specialising in SEMH to work with a pupil in a welcoming primary school in Chelmsford. Your role will be to provide encouragement, structure, and consistency so that the child can fully access their education and feel supported throughout the school day.
The school is known for its caring ethos and commitment to pupil wellbeing, and you’ll be joining a team who go above and beyond to make learning engaging and inclusive for every child.
What You’ll Be Doing

Offering 1:1 support to a child with SEMH needs.

Helping the child manage emotions and behaviour positively.

Encouraging participation in lessons and developing learning skills.

Supporting social interaction and confidence-building activities.

Working closely with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals to put strategies into place.
What We’re Looking For

Previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.

Calm, patient, and empathetic approach with a positive outlook.

Confidence in behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.

Flexibility and creativity to adapt support to the child’s needs.
