Autism Support Worker
Location: Blandford
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about supporting children with autism and making a real difference in their learning and development? GSL Education are looking for dedicated and empathetic Autism Support Workers to join schools in Blandford.

As an Autism Support Worker, you will assist teachers in supporting pupils with autism and additional needs. You will provide one-to-one and small group support, helping students engage with their lessons, develop social skills, and achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with autism and other additional needs in the classroom.
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management.
  • Provide one-to-one and group support tailored to individual needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour and social development.
  • Help create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and participation in learning activities.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with autism or additional needs is essential.
  • CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare, Health & Social Care, Teaching Assistance, or equivalent qualifications (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet individual needs.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
