Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Chesterfield
Pay Rate: £86 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in a school in Chesterfield. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pupils by providing tailored support and fostering positive relationships.
Role Overview:
As an SEMH TA, you will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs. You will help manage behaviour, encourage engagement with learning, and promote emotional wellbeing. Working closely with teaching staff, you will play a vital role in creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every pupil can succeed.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils with SEMH needs, both in class and through targeted interventions.
- Build positive relationships that encourage confidence, resilience, and progress.
- Assist with behaviour management strategies to maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and SENCOs to adapt learning materials and approaches.
- Provide feedback on pupil progress and wellbeing to staff and parents.
- Promote safeguarding and pupil welfare at all times.
Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural needs (desirable).
- Strong interpersonal and behaviour management skills.
- A compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to working with children.
- Must hold a full UK driving licence.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- A full CV covering the last 10 years, with explanations for any gaps.
