Job description
We are looking to appoint a caring and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a friendly and supportive primary school in Chelmsford from September 2025.
The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to provide additional support to children across the school. This may include 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs or small group interventions to help children with their learning and confidence.
This is a rewarding role where you will be making a real difference in children’s education and development each day.
Key Responsibilities

Support pupils in lessons, helping them to access learning and stay engaged.

Provide 1:1 support for children with additional learning, behavioural, or emotional needs when required.

Deliver small group work to boost progress in areas such as reading, writing, and maths.

Encourage children’s independence, confidence, and social interaction.

Work with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies.

Contribute to creating a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
What We’re Looking For
✅ Previous experience working with children (in a school, nursery, or youth setting).
✅ A patient, caring, and supportive approach.
✅ Good communication skills with both children and adults.
✅ An ability to work as part of a team and use initiative.
✅ Experience with SEN is desirable but not essential – training and support will be provided.
