Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with Autism and severe learning difficulties? GSL Education are looking for a dedicated Supply Teacher to join a local school in Bournemouth ASAP.

This long-term supply position, with the potential to go permanent, offers the opportunity to work with secondary-aged students who are working at a primary level. This is a full-time role but part-time may be considered.

About the School:
The school is a special place for primary and secondary aged students with Autism and severe learning difficulties, designed to create a calm and supportive environment for their learning. They have small classrooms, a playroom, sensory room, music room, and playground to enhance their experience. With a high staff-to-student ratio, each child receives individualised support tailored to their needs. The curriculum focuses on the unique requirements of each student, grouping them by similar needs and ages. They prioritise safety with trained staff who take any concerns about neglect or abuse very seriously. The school proudly holds an Outstanding Ofsted rating, reflecting their commitment to providing exceptional care and education for children with autism spectrum disorder and other learning difficulties.

About the role:
As a Supply Teacher, you'll be supporting students with Autism and severe learning difficulties. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate closely with a dedicated team of educators and professionals who are passionate about tailoring their approach to meet the individual needs of each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and delivering individualised lessons and learning activities that cater to the unique needs of students with Autism and severe learning difficulties.
  • Implementing evidence-based strategies and interventions to support students' academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Collaborating with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to develop comprehensive support plans and ensure a holistic approach to student well-being.
  • Monitoring student progress and adjusting teaching strategies as needed to promote continuous growth and achievement.
  • Creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and fosters a sense of belonging for all students.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent SEN teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with students with autism and learning difficulties or related special educational needs.
  • Strong understanding of SEN best practices, interventions, and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
