Job description

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Chelmsford. This is a full-time role, starting in September, where you will be working closely with a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to provide 1:1 and small group support.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and personally.

The Role

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN, helping them access the curriculum.

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver learning and behaviour support strategies.

  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social development in the child you support.

  • Help create an inclusive and nurturing classroom environment.

  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff and parents where required.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with SEN (school, childcare, care, youth work, or personal experience considered).

  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.

  • A proactive, flexible approach and the ability to adapt to individual needs.

  • Team player with a genuine passion for supporting children’s development.
