SEMH Teacher
Location: Hackney
Salary: £150 – £240 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm

GSL Education London are seeking a committed SEMH Teacher to work within a special school in Hackney. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom may also have additional learning difficulties.

This will be a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm, and requires a teacher who can provide structure, empathy, and encouragement to help pupils succeed both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to pupils with SEMH needs.

  • Use creative strategies to encourage positive behaviour and learning outcomes.

  • Work closely with teaching assistants and support staff to provide targeted interventions.

  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Track progress through regular assessments and adapt teaching to meet individual needs.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Previous experience teaching students with SEMH or in a special school setting is desirable.

  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.

  • A compassionate, patient, and resilient approach.

  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service (or willingness to apply).
