Role Overview:
As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you’ll play a vital role in creating a nurturing and structured environment for children with additional needs. You’ll work closely with class teachers, SEN specialists, and therapists to deliver tailored support that helps each child thrive both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide students through their learning journey and help them build essential skills.
- Adapt teaching materials to suit individual needs.
- Use strategies to build confidence, resilience, and independence.
- Collaborate with therapists to support communication development.
- Maintain a safe, consistent, and engaging learning environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school setting.
- Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or SEN Support (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ, or equivalent).
- Experience with Makaton, PECS, or AAC devices (desirable).
- Familiarity with positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques.
