SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £95 – £120 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate

GSL Education are seeking dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to join schools in Sheffield.
About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will work closely with teachers and other staff to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. You will support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning, deliver targeted interventions, and help build their confidence and independence. The role may involve one-to-one support or working with small groups, focusing on both behaviour management and academic progress.
SEMH Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored academic and emotional support to students with SEMH needs.
- Help manage behaviour positively and encourage engagement in learning.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of personalised learning strategies.
- Build trusting relationships with students to promote resilience and wellbeing.
- Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to teachers and parents.
- Support classroom activities and contribute to a safe and inclusive environment.
Requirements for an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA):
- Previous experience working with SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with children.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond positively to challenges.
- A relevant qualification in education or childcare is advantageous but not essential.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
