SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield (S13)
Salary: £95 – £120 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are looking for dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join schools across Sheffield.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with students who require additional support in the classroom. You will assist with learning activities, promote positive behaviour, and ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed. This role involves supporting students either on a 1:1 basis or within small groups, adapting learning to meet individual needs.

Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Support children with special educational needs in accessing the curriculum.
  • Provide tailored assistance to ensure academic and social development.
  • Encourage independence and confidence in the classroom.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and activities.
  • Manage behaviour positively and effectively.
  • Work closely with staff and parents to monitor progress and well-being.
  • Prepare learning materials and contribute to classroom organisation.

SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Requirements:

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working with children, ideally in an SEN setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to the individual needs of students.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
