Autism Support Assistant

Making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with autism requires patience, empathy, and dedication. GSL Education is seeking a passionate Autism Support Assistant to join a special school in Waltham Forest. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm, supporting students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) to achieve their full potential.


As an Autism Support Assistant, you will:

  • Work 1:1 and in small groups with pupils with autism.

  • Support teachers in planning and delivering engaging, structured lessons.

  • Help students develop independence, communication, and social skills.

  • Provide tailored support for sensory and behavioural needs.

  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment at all times.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience with autism or SEN support is desirable.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

  • Enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply).
